Garden Studios Marks Fifth Anniversary with Exclusive Celebration and Public Technology Showcase

Garden Studios, London’s leading independent film and virtual production facility, marked its fifth anniversary with two special events highlighting its pioneering role in emerging production technologies and its long-standing collaboration with Mo-Sys Engineering.

On 18 March, Garden Studios hosted an invitation-only anniversary celebration, drawing key figures from the film, television, and technology sectors to reflect on five years of innovation. On 19 March, the studio opened its doors to the wider creative community for an open house event, featuring hands-on technology demonstrations, including a showcase of Mo-Sys’ groundbreaking CarRig system.

Since opening in 2021, Garden Studios has been at the forefront of virtual production in the UK, integrating a complete suite of Mo-Sys technologies – including VP Pro, StarTracker, and now the new CarRig – to empower storytellers with flexible, real-time workflows. This enduring collaboration has been central to Garden Studios’ mission to push the boundaries of what is possible in screen production.

Mo-Sys CarRig represents the next leap forward in virtual car scene production. This patent-pending system employs computer-controlled agitation to replicate the motion and physical feel of real-world driving conditions. Its automated steering function provides actors with tactile feedback, allowing them to focus solely on performance while maintaining perfect sync with the digital environment.

Every CarRig unit comes equipped with a laptop running Unreal Engine, displaying a real-time simulation of all vehicle movements. The system’s user-friendly interface lets operators easily adjust parameters such as motion magnitude, terrain profiles, and vibration intensity. Designed for versatility, CarRig supports both 2D video driving plate workflows and emerging 3D real-time virtual environments, ensuring seamless adaptability for any production setup. Remarkably, the entire system can be installed in less than two hours and shipped globally via standard couriers like FedEx or UPS.

Michael Geissler, CEO of Mo-Sys Engineering, commended Garden Studios’ continued leadership in advancing new filmmaking methods: “When there are new technology chapters, it needs curious and at the same time responsible integrators of new workflows. Garden Studios is London’s strongest example of such opposing strengths. Trust them.”

“Garden Studios chose to launch five years ago with a VP stage, even before the rest of our campus was ready for production. We have always felt strongly that using various technologies as tools for efficiency and creative opportunity, all productions should consider. Today, we are proud to present our team’s considerable experience with a VP stage worthy of our clients’ ambitions. We also confidently offer co-investment programs for feature films and put our experience into the creative team’s ambitions.”  Thomas Hoegh, Founder and CEO of Garden Studios.

Across the two-day celebration and showcase, visitors were able to explore Garden Studios’ state-of-the-art facilities, meet the teams behind some of the industry’s most innovative tools, and experience firsthand the technologies that are shaping the future of production.
