Hego Names Diego Martínez del Campo Head of Performance Analysis for Latin America

New Hire Will Head Up Team Focused on Advanced, Performance-Data-Driven Production and Visualization for Sports Broadcasters, Clubs, and Leagues

MELVILLE, N.Y. — March 18, 2021 — Hego, a ChyronHego brand specializing in live production services, has expanded its operations with the appointment of Diego Martínez del Campo as head of performance analysis for Latin America. Leveraging his experience as an elite athlete and his expertise in tactical analysis and data science, Martínez del Campo is heading up his own Americas-based, Spanish-speaking team to take on new projects in the region.

Working closely with Hego’s sister company, Tracab, Martínez del Campo and his team use the Emmy® Award-winning, FIFA-certified TRACAB™ tracking system and popular Coach Paint video analysis software to deliver data capture, distribution, analysis, and visualization solutions that enrich sports broadcasting and coaching.

“We see immense opportunity in Latin America for our production services, and for the power of our TRACAB tracking technology to differentiate live sports broadcasts in a competitive marketplace,” said Scott Bunce, general manager at Hego. “With his unique understanding of how performance data can drive more compelling storytelling for viewing audiences, Diego is a great fit for our newly expanded operations in the region.”

Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Martínez del Campo has a decade of international experience as a player, coach, and performance analyst working with professionals from across the soccer world. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sports business and business administration from Northern Kentucky University and is currently finishing up his master’s degree in data science at Purdue University. He joins Hego and the larger ChyronHego family having previously served as a performance analyst for FC Cincinnati, where he helped the soccer club to enhance video and data capture for more effective analysis and training.

“Diego is passionate about sport and the potential of data to drive improvements to player and team performance, as well as storytelling and fan engagement,” said David Eccles, head of sales, Coach Paint, at Tracab. “He knows how to build valuable relationships with sports clubs, and he’s got both the creativity and technical expertise to help our customers capture and use data in meaningful, often innovative, ways to fuel greater success. We look forward to many exciting new projects with Diego and his team.”
